Esther Rolle

Esther Elizabeth Rolle (born November 8, 1920 in Pompano Beach, Florida) was a TV actress and film actress who was best known for playing Florida Evans on the American TV sitcom, “Maude” for two seasons. She then played the same character in the spin off series, “Good Times” for five additional seasons. Esther died on November 17, 1998 and her death was because of complications from diabetes. She died nine days after her 78th birthday.
