Akira Kurosawa (born March 23, 1910 in Tokyo, Japan) was a filmmaker, artist, film producer who was best known for directing 30 films in a career spanning over five decades which include Druken Angel (1948), Rashomon (1950), Ikiru (1952), Seven Samurai (1954), Throne of Blood (1957), The Hidden Fortress (1958), Dersu Uzala (1975), and Ran (1985). Akira died on September 6, 1998 and his death was because of a stroke. He died at age 88.
