Al Martino (born October 7, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was a singer and film actor who was best known for being the greatest success as a singer between the early 1950s and mid-1970s, being described as, "one of the great Italian American pop crooners.” He was also known for his role as singer Johnny Fontaine in the 1974 film, “The Godfather.” Al died on October 13, 2009 and his death was reportedly because of heart attack. He died just six days after his 82nd birthday.
