Sir Alan Arthur Bates CBE (born February 17, 1934 in Allestree, England) was a film actor and TV actor who was best known for his role as Arthur Blakey aka “the man” in the 1961 crime drama film, “Whistle Down the Wind.” Alan died on December 27, 2003 and his death was because of pancreatic cancer. He died quite soon at age 69.
