Alan Bartlett Shepard Jr. (born November 18, 1923 in Derry, New Hampshire) was an astronaut and businessperson who was best known for becoming the second human to go into space and walked on the Moon in 1971. Alan died on July 21, 1998 and his death was because of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He died at age 74.
