Alistair Cooke (born November 20, 1908 in Salford, England) was a writer, journalist, and TV personality who was best known for being a amazingly well-read host of the American TV series "Masterpiece Theatre" for 22 years. Alistair died on March 30, 2004 and his death was because of lung cancer which metastasized to his bones. He died at age 95.
