Charles Townes (born July 28th, 1915 in Greenville, South Carolina) was a Scholar who was best known for directing the US government's Science and Technology Advisory Committee for the Apollo lunar landing program. Charles died on January 27, 2015 and his death was possibly because of old age. He was 99.
