Chester Burton Atkins (born June 20, 1924 in Luttrell, Tennessee) was a musician, singer-songwriter, and music producer who was best known for creating the Nashville sound, which was a country music style that appealed to adult pop music lovers. Chet died on June 30, 2001 and his death was because of colon cancer. He died ten days after his 77th birthday.
