Cleavant Derricks

Mr. Cleavant Derricks (born May 15th, 1953 as "Cleavant Derricks Jr.") died slowly in a private hospital on January 29th, 2026 (TBV) with his closest family around him. His cause of death was likely just poor health. He was 72 years old when he passed away.

Cleavant is survived by his parents, Cecile G. Derricks and Cleavant Derricks, Sr., lovely wife Portia Derricks, his sibling, sister Clinton Derricks-Carroll as well as his pet llama, Roxy.

Professionally, Cleavant was a TV Actor who was best known for his role as Rembrandt Brown in the American sci-fi TV series "Sliders".

When he was not on the job as a TV Actor, Cleavant was known for his love of cooking fried foods and he would spend minutes most Thursdays engrossed in it. Mr. Derricks (the deceased) also spent hours visiting with his closest cousin most Sundays when he was able to spare a small number of minutes. Ever since he was a rambunctious little boy in Knoxville, many remember Cleavant as a caring person with fantastic puppet shows that impressed everyone. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a tax free donation to the Alzheimer's Research Fund in Cleavant's his memory.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday the 17th at the cemetery in Knoxville. The service will commence at 11AM with a reception to follow hosted by his brother at the funeral home where refreshments will be served. All are welcome to the visitation to be held at cemetery at 4PM.
