Clifton Keith Hillegass (born April 18, 1918 in Rising City, Nebraska) was an author who was best known for being the creator and publisher of CliffNotes, which were study guides that assists college and high school students in their literature course work. Clifton died on May 5, 2001 and his death was because of complications from a stroke. He died at age 83.
