David Thomas Ackles (born February 20, 1937 in Rock Island, Illinois) was a singer-songwriter, musician, and film actor who was best known for 1968 song, “Down River.” David died on March 2, 1999 and his death was because of lung cancer. He died pretty young at just 62 years old.
