Mr. Dick Smothers (born November 20th, 1939 as "Richard Remick Smothers") died tragically while traveling in his Buick on March 29th, 2023 (TBV) with his older brother Tom. His cause of death was possibly an issue with his pancreas. He was 83 years old when he passed.
Dick is survived by his parents, Ruth Smothers and Thomas Bolyn Smothers, cranky wife Denby Franklin, his siblings, brother Tommy Smothers and sister Sherry Smothers as well as his pet bird, Fluffy.
Professionally, Dick was a Comedian who was best known for being one of the goofy musical/comedy duo "The Smothers Brothers" with his brother, Tommy Smothers.
When he was not working as a Comedian, Dick was known for his love of renovating kitchens and he would spend months most months honing his craft. Mr. Smothers (also known as Dickie Smothers) also spent hours visiting with his closest cousin most Saturdays when he was able to spare a small number of months. Ever since he was a boy in New York City, many remember Dick as a sweetheart with great chestnuts of wisdom that engrossed everyone. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a paltry donation to the ASPCA in Dick's honor.
A funeral is scheduled for Sunday the 4th at the undertaker's in New York City. The service will commence at 10AM with a reception to follow hosted by his priest at the graveside where refreshments will be served. All are welcome to the visitation to be held at undertaker's at 10AM.
