Ethel Agnes Zimmermann (born January 16, 1908 in Astoria, New York) was a film actress and singer who was best known for her distinctive, powerful voice, and for leading roles. She also has been called, "the undisputed First Lady of the musical comedy stage.” Ethel died on February 15, 1984 and her death was because of brain cancer. She died at age 76.
