Eudora Alice Welty (born April 13, 1909 in Jackson, Mississippi) was a writer, novelist, and photographer who was best known for 1972 short novel, “The Optimist’s Daughter” which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1973. She was also the first author to her have her work published by the Library of America. Eudora died on July 23, 2001 and her death was because of natural causes. She died peacefully at age 92.
