Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón (born July 6, 1907 in Coyoacán, Mexico City, Mexico) was an artist who was best known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works. Her paintings were often inspired by the nature and artifacts of her native Mexico. Frida died on July 13, 1954 and her sudden death was because of pulmonary embolism. She died a week after her 47th birthday.
