George Lawrence Mikan Jr. (born June 18, 1924 in Joliet, Illinois) was a basketball player who was best known for playing with the "Chicago American Gears" and the Minneapolis Lakers of the American National Basketball League (NBL). George died on June 1, 2005 and his death was because of complications of diabetes. He died at age 80.
