Gerald Malcolm Durrell (born January 7, 1925 in Jamshedpur, India) was an author, writer and TV personality who was best known for founding the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust as well as the Jersey Zoo on the Channel Island of Jersey. Gerald died on January 30, 1995 and his death was because of sepsis due to complications of a liver transplant. He died at age 70.
