Harriet Tubman (born March 6, 1822 in Dorchester County, Maryland) was an activist who was best known for escaping slavery and subsequently made 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 slaves using the "Underground Railroad", a network of antislavery activists and safe houses. Harriet died on March 10, 1913 and her death was because of pneumonia. She died four days after her 91st birthday.
