Harvey Bernard Milk (born May 22, 1930 in Woodmere, New York) was a politician who was best known for being the first openly gay man to be elected to public office. He became a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Harvey died on November 27, 1978 and his death was because he was assassinated by Dan White, along with George Moscone. He died too young at age 48.
