James Albert Michener (born February 3, 1907 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania) was an author, philanthropist, and academic who was best known for his long, fictional family sagas covering the lives of many generations in particular geographic locales and for his 1947 short story, “Tales of the South Pacific.” James died on October 16, 1997 and his death was because of kidney failure. He died at age 90.
