James Earl Ray (born March 10, 1928 in Alton, Illinois) was a criminal who was best known for being convicted for the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. James died on April 23, 1998 and his death was of kidney and liver failure caused by Hepatitis C. He died at age 70.
