James Bond Stockdale (born December 23, 1923 in Abingdon, Illinois) was a military personnel who was best known for being an American vice admiral and aviator that was awarded the Medal of Honor in the Vietnam War. He was a prisoner of war for several years. James died on July 5, 2005 and his death was because of Alzheimer’s disease. He died at age 81.
