Jesse Alexander Helms Jr. (born October 18, 1921 in Monroe, North Carolina) was a politician who was best known for serving as a senator from North Carolina from 1973 to 2003 and as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 1995 to 2001. Jesse died on July 4, 2008 and his death was because of vascular dementia. He died at age 86.
