James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix (born November 27, 1942 in Seattle, Washington) was a musician and singer-songwriter who was considered by many as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music. Jimi was one of the most celebrated Rock and Roll musicians of the 20th century. Jimi died on September 18, 1970 and his death was reportedly because he choked on his own vomit while intoxicated on barbiturates. He died at the tender age of 27.
