John Crowe Ransom (born April 30, 1888 in Pulaski, Tennessee) was an academic, scholar, and poet who was best known for being considered to be a founder of the New Criticism school of literary criticism and for being the first editor of the Kenyon Review. John died on July 3, 1974 and his death was possibly because of natural causes. He died at age 83.
