John Joseph Gotti Jr. (born October 27, 1940 in The Bronx, New York) was a criminal who was best known for being a gangster and boss of the Gambino crime family based in New York City. He arranged the murder hit on the Gambino boss, Paul Castellano in December 1985. After Casellano's death he took over the family shortly thereafter, became the boss of America's most powerful crime syndicate of the time. John died on June 10, 2002 and his death was because of throat cancer. He died at age 61.
