Julia Carolyn Child (born August 15, 1912 in Pasadena, California) was a celebrity chef, author, and TV personality who was best known for introducing French cuisine to the North American public with her 1961 cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” Julia died on August 13, 2004 and her death was because of kidney failure. She died at age 91 just two days before her 92nd birthday.
