Layne Thomas Staley (born August 22, 1967 in Kirkland, Washington) was a singer-songwriter who was best known for being the original lead vocalist of the rock band, “Alice in Chains". Layne died on April 5, and his death was reportedly because of an accidental cocaine and heroin overdose. He died very young at age 34.
