Leona Mindy Roberts Helmsley (born July 4, 1920 in Marbletown, New York) was a businessperson and criminal who was best known for evasion of federal income taxes. Her flamboyant personality and tyrannical behavior which earned her the nickname, “Queen of Mean.” She also was sentenced four years in prison for tax fraud. Leona died on August 20, 2007 and her death was because of congestive heart failure. She died at age 87.
