Linus Carl Pauling FRS (born February 28, 1901 in Portland, Oregon) was a physician, activist, and author who was best known for revolutionizing the study of chemistry, helped found the field of molecular biology, and made important advances for medical research. He was also rated the 16th most important scientist in history. Linus died on August 19, 1994 and his death was because of prostate cancer. He died at age 93.
