Ms. Loretta Swit (born November 4th, 1937 as "Loretta Jane Swit") died tragically at home on November 30th, 2021 (TBV) with her closest friends at her side. Her cause of death was possibly due to old age related illness. She was 84 years old when she passed.
Loretta is survived by her parents, Nellie Świt and Lester Świt, ex husband Dennis Holahan, as well as her pet bird, Chickie.
Professionally, Loretta was a TV-Actress who was best known for playing the role of the feisty, Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan on the American TV series "M*A*S*H".
When she was not engaged as a TV-Actress, Loretta was known for her love of needlepoint, and she wrote a book on the topic. Ms. Swit (also known as Loretta Swit) also spent months visiting with her closest cousin mostly when she was able to spare a bunch of time. Ever since she was a girl in Passaic, many remember Loretta as a joyful sole with fantastic magic tricks and illusions. In lieu of flowers, the Swit family asks that you make a sizable donation to the ASPCA in Loretta's honor.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday at the crematorium in the ouskirts of Passaic. The service will commence at 11AM with a reception to follow hosted by her daughter at the chapel where there will be alcoholic refreshments. All are welcome to the visitation to be held at crematorium at 4PM.
