Marianne Moore (born November 15, 1887 in Kirkwood, Missouri) was a poet and writer who was best known for wit, irony, and use of symbolic verse. She was also known for her tricorn hat and cape. Marianne died on February 5, 1972 and her death was because of a series of strokes. She died at age 84.
