Marjory Stoneman Douglas (born April 7, 1890 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) was a journalist and author who was best known for defending the Florida Everglades against efforts to drain it and reclaim land for development. Marjory died on May 14, 1998 and his death was possibly because of old age. She died the very high age at age 108.
