Markus Yakovlevich Rothkowitz (born September 25, 1903 in Daugavpils, Latvia) was an artist who was best known for his color field paintings that depicted irregular and painterly rectangular regions of color. Mark died on February 25, 1970 and his death was because of suicide by barbiturate poisoning and cutting. He died at age 66.
