Martin Henry Balsam (born November 4, 1919 in New York City, New York) was a film actor and TV actor who was best known for his role as Arnold Burns in the 1965 comedy film, “A Thousand Clowns” and was the voice of HAL 9000 in the 1968 sci fi film, “2001: A Space Odyssey.” Martin died on February 13, 1996 and his death was because of a stroke. He died at age 76.
