Marvin Pentz Gay Jr. (born April 2, 1939 in Washington D. C, United States) was a singer who was best known for being popular with Motown rhythm and blues in the 1960s and 1970s. Marvin died on April 1, 1984 and his death was reportedly because he was shot and killed by his father, Marvin Gay Sr., after an argument at home. He died young at age 44 just one day before his 45th birthday.
