Mauritz Stiller (born July 17, 1883 in Helsinki, Finland) was a film director, screenwriter, and film actor who was best known for discovering Greta Garbo and introducing her to the Hollywood crowd. He was also known for directing the 1920 romance/comedy film, “Erotikon.” Mauritz died on November 18, 1928 and his death was because of pleurisy. He died young at age 45.
