Majer Fleischer (born July 19, 1883 in Kraków, Poland) was an animator, film director, and film producer who was best known for being the creator of the early animated American cartoons, Betty Boop and Popeye. Max died on September 11, 1972 and his tragic death was because of multiple sclerosis of the brain. He died at age 89.
