Ms. Melissa Gilbert (born May 8th, 1964) died unexpectedly on a lovely sun lounger by the pool on October 23rd, 2025 (TBV) with her loving sons in the vicinity. Her cause of death was not released but was possibly due to a serious sunburn. She was 61 when she passed away.
Melissa is survived by her husband Timothy Busfield, her devoted son, Michael Garrett Boxleitner, her siblings, brother Jonathan Gilbert and her cranky sister Sara Gilbert as well as her favorite pet Mr. Whiskers.
She is pre is predeceased by her elderly parents, Barbara Crane and Paul Gilbert who passed in the 1970s.
Professionally, Melissa Ellen was a TV Actress who was best known for her high profile role as Laura Ingalls Wilder, the oldest and wisest daughter on the American TV series "Little House on the Prairie". She also appeared in a few movies over her career.
When she was not working as a TV Actress, Melissa Ellen was known for her love of ball room dancing and she would spend most Saturdays practicing. Ms. Gilbert (also known as Melissa Ellen Gilbert) also spent hours visiting with her mother most weekends when she was able to get over there. Ever since she was a wee little child growing up in Los Angeles, many remember Melissa Ellen as a funny character with skimpy costumes that engrossed everyone. In lieu of flowers or trinkets, the family asks that you make a sizable donation to the Alzheimer's Research Fund in Melissa Ellen's honor.
A somber and sad funeral procession is scheduled for in front of a the biggest church in Los Angeles for the day she will be burried. A reception will follow hosted by her oldest friend at the church where refreshments will be served. All are welcome to the visitation to be held at a random church at 4PM the day before the funeral.
