Michael Joseph Mansfield (born March 16, 1903 in New York City, New York) was a politician who was best known for serving as U.S. representative from 1943 to 1953 and for serving as a U.S. senator from 1953 to 1977 from Montana. He was also the longest-serving Senate Majority Leader serving from 1961 to 1977. Mike died on October 5, 2001 and his death was possibly because of old age. He died at age 98.
