Zenzile Miriam Makeba (born March 4, 1932 in Johannesburg, South Africa) was a singer-songwriter, film actress, and activist who was best known for being associated with musical genres including Afropop, and also an advocate against apartheid and white-minority government in her home country of South Africa. Miriam died on November 10, 2008 and her death was reportedly because of a heart attack. She died at age 76.
