Mohammed Najibullah Ahmadzai (born August 6, 1947 in Gardez, Afghanistan) was a politician who was best known for serving as the General Secretary of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan, the leader of the one-party ruling Democratic Republic of Afghanistan from 1986 to 1992 and as well as the President of Afghanistan from 1987 until his resignation in 1992. Mohammed died on September 27, 1996 and his death was because he was tortured and murdered by hanging and gunshot by Taliban along with his brother, Shahpur Ahmadzai. He died young at age 49.
