Raiford Chatman "Ossie" Davis (born December 18, 1917 in Clinch County, Georgia) was a film actor, film director, and activist who was best known for his contributions to African American theatre and film and for his passionate support of civil rights. Ossie died on February 4, 2005 and his death was because of natural causes. He died at age 87.
