Ottis Elwood Toole (born March 5, 1947 in Jacksonville, Florida) was a criminal who was best known for being convicted of six counts of murder after he made confessions which he later recanted, which resulted in murder convictions. Ottis died on September 15, 1996 and his death was reportedly because of liver cirrhosis. He died young at age 49.
