Pernell Elven Roberts Jr. (born May 18, 1928 in Waycross, Georgia) was a stage actor, TV actor, and singer who was best known for his early role as Ben Cartwright's eldest son Adam Cartwright on the American TV Western series, “Bonanza”. He also famously played chief surgeon Dr. John McIntyre on the TV series "Trapper John, M.D.". Pernell died on January 24, 2010 and his death was because of pancreatic cancer. He died at age 81.
