Pierre Emil George Salinger (born June 14, 1925 in San Francisco, California) was a politician, journalist, and author who was best known for serving as the 9th press secretary from 1961 to 1964 and for serving as United States Senator from 1964 to 1968. Pierre died on October 16, 2004 and his death was because of heart failure. He passed on at age 79.
