Raymond Clevie Carver Jr. (born May 25, 1938 in Clatskanie, Oregon) was a writer and poet who was best known for helping to promote the popularity of the American short story during the 1980s and for his 1981 short story, “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love.” Raymond died on August 2, 1988 and his death was because of lung cancer. He died too soon at age 50.
