Rick James (born February 1, 1948 in Buffalo, New York) was a singer-songwriter, musician, and music producer who was best known for being a popular performer in the late 1970s and for his songs “Super Freak”, “Mary Jane”, “You and I”. Rick died on August 6, 2004 and his death was reportedly because of heart failure and pulmonary failure. He died too soon at age 56.
