Roone Pinckney Arledge Jr. (born July 8, 1931 in Queens, New York) was a TV producer, broadcaster, and sportscaster who was best known for being the president of the American Broadcasting Company's "ABC Sports" from 1968 until 1986 and their news outlet from 1977 until 1998. He also created "Wide World of Sports" and "The American Sportsman" for ABC. Roone died on December 5, 2002 and his death was because of prostate cancer. He died at age 71.
