Sally Kristen Ride (born May 26, 1951 in Los Angeles, California) was an astronaut and physician who was best known for being the first woman and third woman to go to space while working with NASA. Sally died on July 23, 2012 and her death was because of pancreatic cancer. She died quite early at age 61.
